The Vision Academy Learning Trust is a group of one secondary and four primary schools with a common aim to inspire the imaginations of our students and to support them to develop in ways which stand them in good stead for their future lives and responsibilities as individuals, employees and citizens.

The Trust is looking for an enthusiastic, able and experienced Site Manager to lead improvements and standards in site general management, through working closely with the caretaking and cleaning teams. The role will support the caretaker work allocation and assessment of work tasks, quality assure, train and upskill existing workforce, whilst managing contractors on site. The post holder will primarily be based at Egglescliffe School but will be required to travel to and work from other schools within the Trust and will be line managed by the Trust Estates Manager.

A key initiative will be to work with the Trust central estates team to drive service level improvements as well as communication and evaluation of contractors’ delivery.

The main requirements of the post are outlined below:

  • To deliver the Sites’ asset, capital and maintenance in line with Trust strategy and Site needs.
  • To work with the Estates team to deliver compliance, training, contractor management, quality assurance and Health and Safety Management.
  • To supervise and support the site teams at the Trust schools, including training the caretaking and cleaning teams.
  • To be a nominated Trust Key-holder and be part of the ‘on call’ team for out of hours to attend to incidents and provide access to out of hours working.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Relevant further qualifications as well as considerable experience in site related skills eg carpentry, building, plumbing etc
  • Full driving licence with access to a vehicle to access Trust sites (mileage reimbursed)
  • Experience of working in a supervisory or advisory role
  • Good ICT skills to be able to work with Trust online portals and systems
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written Experience of working within a sites or estates management role, running a team
  • Previous experience of working with, negotiating, advising and monitoring contractor work

Please note that experience of working in a school is not a pre-requisite for this post.
