Over the past few years, Egglescliffe School has been involved in raising money for The Meserani Project (UK Charity No. 1135670): The Meserani Project is a unique ‘home-grown’ charity with a primary focus on providing secondary, further and higher education for young people in an area of East Africa where secondary and further education are not accessible to them due to poverty and family circumstances. We are a relatively small-scale project, and rely heavily on the support provided by individuals, families and organisations in Teesside, particularly schools such as Egglescliffe School, who have been supporting us since 2012, with one of their sponsored students, Daniel Meigaru, currently applying for university selection in Tanzania. Our school’s involvement in this life-changing project has helped to highlight to our own students the importance of education and how much of an impact acts of kindness – no matter how small – can have on the lives of others. Thanks to the hard work of our school community, students such as Daniel Meigaru and Hosea Ezekiel have been given the opportunity of a secondary education in Tanzania. You can find out more about The Meserani Project on their website: meseraniproject.co.uk. Hosea is very inspiring and grateful. Hosea has inspired me by working so hard even though he has poor living conditions. I hope that Hosea is successful in school and finishes his education.
