Year 12 Enrichment Programme
At Egglescliffe School and Sixth Form College, enrichment is an important part of the Year 12 experience.
Every Wednesday afternoon, students take part in a structured enrichment programme designed to develop skills, broaden horizons and provide valuable experiences beyond their academic studies.
The programme supports students’ personal development, employability, well-being and cultural awareness while encouraging them to explore interests outside their A Level and vocational courses.
Why Enrichment Matters
Our enrichment programme helps students to:
- Develop confidence and independence.
- Build skills valued by universities and employers.
- Improve communication, teamwork and leadership.
- Explore new interests and opportunities.
- Enhance their personal statement, CV and future applications.
- Maintain a healthy balance between study and wider development.
Students leave Year 12 with a broader range of experiences that complement their qualifications and help prepare them for higher education, apprenticeships and employment.
How the Programme Works
At the start of Year 12, students rank the six enrichment strands in order of preference.
Each student is then allocated:
- One Autumn Strand
- One Spring Strand
- One Summer Strand
Students therefore complete three enrichment experiences during the academic year.
This approach provides:
- Greater student choice.
- Stable groups and stronger participation.
- A consistent experience throughout the year.
- Reduced administration.
- Opportunities to develop expertise and confidence within each strand.
