Where are you now?

I’ve just finished my first year at Cambridge University, studying Human, Social and Political Sciences!

Favourite memory:

I spoke and volunteered at the Sixth Form’s Open Evening, where I really loved being able to share my experiences and advice. That was also the day I received an invitation to interview at Cambridge so it was extra special! Meeting new people and making great friends was also a highlight, as were academic milestones.I had an amazing two years at Egglescliffe, which is why it’s so difficult to pick just one moment!

Support you received:

The support was absolutely amazing. I got so much guidance about my university application, from a mock interview to help editing my personal statement to a really great reference, support which was central to the application process. My teachers always went above and beyond.

Why should people go to Egglescliffe?

Egglescliffe has such a friendly community feel – it’s small enough that the teachers and staff get to know you really well and vice versa. Even though I joined from a different secondary school, I found it easy to settle in and get involved. I definitely made the right choice picking Egglescliffe for Sixth Form and would really recommend it to anyone.

Where do you hope to be in 5 years?

I’m hoping to do a postgrad course after my undergraduate degree, possibly in human rights and/or diplomacy. In 5 years, I’d love to be working in this kind of area, maybe for the Civil Service or UN.

Where are you now?

I am about to enter my second year at The University of Sunderland studying Medicine.

Favourite memory:

My favourite memories from Egglescliffe were the times spent in my free periods where we could relax with friends in the common room and get a hot chocolate from Jen’s cafe.

Support you received:

I received support in a variety of ways and from a many people within the college. This included Mr Gratton who organised a mock interview before my real university ones, my subject teachers who provided after school revision classes and my tutor teacher who was the best.

Why people should go to Egglescliffe?

I think one of the main reasons why Egglescliffe is a great college is that you get to know your whole year and teachers very well. This can develop strong relationships that can be used in tough times or to enjoy others. I think Egglescliffe made me realise I had the skills to do what I wanted whilst supporting me to do this.

Where do you hope to be in 5 years?

n 5 years time I hope to have started my training as and F1 doctor after finally finishing 5 years in university! I hope to carry out a psychiatry rotation as this speciality is currently the one that appeals to me most.
