It is the key responsibilities of the SENDCO’s to :

  1. Oversee the day-to-day operation of the school’s SEND policy
  2. Liaise with the SLT members and Designated Safeguarding lead where a looked after Student has SEND / Safeguarding concerns
  3. Co-ordinate provision for children with SEND
  4. Advise teachers on using a graduated approach to providing SEND support
  5. Advise on the deployment of the school’s delegated budget and other resources to meet the Student’s needs effectively
  6. Identify and implement the correct and appropriate support is provided for all SEND students through TAs, Teachers and key professionals.
  7. Liaise with parents/carers of Students with SEND
  8. Liaise with and be a key point of contact for external agencies
  9. Ensure that the school keeps the records of all SEND Students up to date
  10. Work with primary schools, colleges and secondary colleagues to ensure smooth transitions
  11. Work with the head teacher and school governors to ensure that the school meets its responsibilities with regard to reasonable adjustments and access arrangements
